a movie and the extinct animal

Recently I saw a movie "The Hunter" starring Willem Dafoe. It was an impressive film with the wonderful acting and the image of the great landscapes of Tasmania, and one of its motif "to discover the survived Tasmanian Tiger" made me think of the extinct or endangered species.

Especially the animals which are extinct by the activities of human beings make me feel really uneasy and guilty, and there are so many of them. I like the Age of Sail fictions, it's a great period of exploration and discoveries but it was also the period of aggression, plunder and maybe slaughter for many species. I can never take sides with the human supremacy though I know enough that we are all depend on the sacrifice of other animals and nature for our modern lives, we are all equally guilty. And it's not meaningless to think about those animals, I hope...
