A bag

When I cleared old things from the closets & drawers of my late grand-parents' old house in spring of 2013 I found many old Kimonos, and gave some of them to my friends. One of the friends wanted some old Obi(sash for Kimono) and said she wanted to remake them into bags. So I asked to make one for me from my grand mother's Obi.

(The grey one with purple leaves & white pattern is the Obi I asked my friend to make a bag from.)

Recently she gave it to me, but the bag is unfinished for she didn't know how long strap I like, she attached a long strap to the bag and let me finish it as I like. So this morning I used my old Singer (for the first time!) to finish its shoulder strap.

This is the result! Thanks for my clever friend! I don't remember my grandmother wearing this Obi but I think this colour & pattern seems quite her liking so I'd like to keep this as a remembrance of her.
