when to post?

Every year in the middle of November I begin to make my annual greeting cards for my foreign friends. - As for the domestic friends, we have the custom of sending New Year's cards which are delivered on the New Years Day so I first make greeting cards then after posting them I make New Year's cards.

I hope my friends would get my card not too late but not too early, and every year I wonder when I should post them. They say that this is very busy season for the postal service in Western countries so we should mail things earlier than usual, but sometimes they deliver letters very quickly in some areas - for example in UK - while it takes loooong time to deliver them to the small town in American local area. So I usually post them when December comes - I hope it's not odd to get the greeting card at the beginning of December.

I'd like to ask my Westerner friends when they post greeting cards, and when they expect to get them from their friends?
